Ohio REALTORS Proudly Sponsored the Midwest Japanese Conference
By Veronica Cardello, Ohio REALTORS Asst. VP, External Engagement
Ohio REALTORS® was pivotal in sponsoring the Midwest Japanese Conference earlier this month. This landmark event brought together over 40 CEOs and business leaders to explore the evolving economic ties between the U.S. Midwest and Japan. Held annually for over five decades, this conference underscores the critical importance of real estate in economic growth and the untapped potential of international partnerships.
Originating in 1967 with an inaugural meeting in Chicago between the Japan Committee for Economic Development and the Chicago Association of Commerce & Industry, the Midwest Japanese Conference has since evolved into a premier forum for discussing bilateral trade and investment opportunities. At the 53rd Joint Meeting held in Tokyo in September 2023, high-profile participants—including governors from five Midwestern states and executives from leading companies such as Eli Lilly Japan, Kiewit Energy Group, and Toyota Motor Corp—highlighted the conference’s status as a vital platform for fostering dialogue and collaboration.
As one of the ten member states in the Midwest U.S.-Japan Association, Ohio is committed to deepening its understanding of Japan’s markets and enhancing its investment potential. Through events like these, Ohio REALTORS® continues to champion the role of real estate in international economic development, building more robust, more resilient partnerships that benefit both regions.
