Coaching Corner: Creativity abounds!!!

Wow! Did you see it? Were you there? Did you get to participate in any part of the Ohio REALTORS Annual (Virtual) Convention? Again, WOW is all I can say! Our staff and leadership team did such an amazing job of creating an informative and totally enjoyable venue to replace our normal in-person convention!
This year has been trying to say the least. Activities and life as we had known it have moved to a place to keep us healthy, which includes having large in-person crowds. Initially, it was easy to be bummed at the thought of what we were missing. Seth Task, our incoming President, was not able to bring our convention to his home town of Cleveland, which would have been an awesome time. And, our current President, Chris Reese, could have easily gone down the pity road. But no! That did not happen!
Our leadership team and staff, headed up by our Chief Executive Officer, Scott Williams, rose to the occasion in so many ways! First by identifying that the Convention needed to be cancelled as a live event, and then taking steps (some big, some little and some shaky), to create an event that would both inform and delight! And...that is exactly what happened!
So let’s jump to something more personal -- you! Each of us have had challenges throughout these months, and the question is, how have you created something different? How have you moved from “NO! NO! NO!” to “hmmm, what we can do here?” Creativity is the key word, just in case you missed it.
Creativity comes in lots of different packages -- it doesn’t have to be art, or music or artistic in some way. What it is, however, is how we can get our brains to expand to thinking differently about something -- specifically a challenge. Look back at this time and identify for yourself how you have used your own beautiful brain to creatively move through a challenging situation. Now, pat yourself on the back -- go on -- do it!
And here’s the really cool part. Creativity has been somewhat thrust upon us -- now we can take what we have learned and bring it more to the forefront, even without the presence of a challenge.
