Coaching Corner: Are you ready to be a part of a NAR Committee?
By Marilou Butcher Roth, Master Coach
Have you given some thought to committee participation on the national REALTOR level? Perhaps you are already involved...or perhaps you feel you do not have the qualifications to be involved on that level. The Ohio REALTORS NAR Strategy Committee is functioning specifically to assist you on the path of NAR committee participation.
Beginning with this blog post and continuing for two more weeks, you will find information on The Buzz to lead you to your desired NAR involvement. As a REALTOR member, you have the opportunity to participate in committee work — on a local, state and national level. Some of you reading this may already be involved to various degrees. And, some of you may not have even considered this possibility. The reasons for not being involved will vary, however, I have found “not enough time” at the top of the list for most REALTORS.
Let’s begin this discussion by indulging my past 34 years as a member of our industry Associations, with consistent involvement over that period of time. So, I get to pull the longevity card for the sake of credibility. Here is what I can tell you...the time that I have spent on committee and leadership involvement is far surpassed by the benefits I have received. Without question, what I have learned has made me a better agent and broker.
Benefits range from not only what you can learn, but also the feeling that comes with being part of something bigger. Your professionalism expands, and through the organic networking that is reality available, you will find yourself knowing other REALTORS, not just statewide, but nationally. Relationships will be built and referrals come along as an added bonus! Bottom line...active involvement can impact your bottom line in a positive way!
For the next two weeks, you will find my blog focused a bit differently than usual. Additionally, keep your eyes open for an email from Ohio REALTORS regarding NAR committee sign up in the coming weeks. When you receive this, take some time and read through it. Pay attention to how you feel, and what direction you may want to take your committee involvement.
Over the course of the next two weeks, I will be expanding our conversation around NAR committees, including how to get the ball rolling as well as tips to achieve placement on the committee of your choice.
Start your thought process around this, and watch for next week’s Coaching Corner!!
