This course will help attendees understand the basics of a 1031 Exchange, important rules, and provide examples of advanced exchange structures. In simple terms, a 1031 exchange is an asset “swap” that goes unrecognized for tax purposes. Traditionally, the sale of a business or investment property will trigger the recognition of taxable income; however, with a 1031 exchange, the person/entity selling the asset can skip over (defer) recognizing income.
