Participants who complete this certification will gain a better understanding of how to foster a more inclusive and welcoming environment and promote equity for all. You'll open up new windows of opportunity as you gain knowledge in serving diverse populations.

The “Do’s and Don’ts” of Working with Special Needs Clients
The percentage of special needs people in the US is increasing at an alarming rate and currently accounts for 1 in 4 Americans. The National Association of REALTORS® has put a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to make sure that all clients are treated fairly and equitably. It is critical that REALTORS® learn a proper standard of practice when caring for their special needs or disabled clients. This session covers things agent should and should not do in the real estate transaction.

  • Each class provides 1 hour of Real Estate Continuing Education (CE).

Presenter: John Young
John Young is a top REALTOR® for RE/MAX in the metropolitan Washington DC area, a Regional Vice President for the Residential Real Estate Council, and a national speaker.  His personal and professional life were permanently transformed in 2009 when he and his wife became the parents of a child with non-verbal autism.  John began speaking nationally on serving clients with special needs and the importance of helping others after realizing there was no ‘manual’ to provide guidance, direction and support when encountering these clients.  He has spoken at the NAR Conference & Expo, RRC Sell-a-bration conferences, Genuine Hustle, and for many state and local associations.  This past year, John was proud to have been chosen to serve on the NAR Diversity Committee and the Maryland REALTORS® Leadership Development Committee.
