For 2024, this new certification is being offered as an Ohio REALTORS member Benefit, free to all attendees!

DE & I Certification Overview

  • 10 virtual (live online) classes offered, one per month, beginning in March 2024.
  • Each class provides 1 hour of Real Estate Continuing Education (CE).
  • Certification requires completion of 6 out of 10 classes.
  • NAR’s Fairhaven & Bias Override Courses each qualify as one of the 6 courses required for this certification.

DE & I Certification Application & Renewal

Once you have completed the required 6 classes to obtain your DE & I Certification, please submit an application to receive your certification. The certification will be valid for 2 years, due for renewal in the 3rd year following initial certification. To obtain a 2-year renewal, you will need to attend 2 qualifying DE & I classes that you haven’t participated in previously.

Bias in Appraisals: What Agents and Appraisers Need to Know

Can you recognize when and how bias can appear in appraisals?  Can you recognize your own bias?  In this session, we’ll discuss the requirements under Fannie Mae and USPAP prohibiting bias from being a part of any appraisal.

You'll come away from this session being able to:

  • List the words and phrases that should never be used in an appraisal.
  • Understand how a property should be evaluated based on facts.
  • Identify shifts in the markets.

Due to the high volume of attendees, this presentation will be produced as a Zoom webinar. This course will require submitting two code words upoon conclusion in order to qualify for CE credit.

CE Logistics (Please read):

  • This livestream webinar is certified for 1 hour of real estate credit, DE & I Certification course credit.
  • Active participation will be monitored using codewords, which will be shared during the program for attendees to report afterwards.
  • Per ODRE requirements, you must be present for 90% of the program to receive credit.

Presenter: Melanie McLane, ABR, CRB, CRS, EPRO, GREEN, GRI, RAA, RSPS, PSA, SRES, SRS
Real estate agent and appraiser educator, Melanie McLane has decades of experience in all facets of real estate education: from course development to the presentation. She is a REBAC Hall of Fame trainer and was RSPS of the Year in 2012.  She was recently named Pennsylvania’s REALTOR® of the Year.

Melanie is a certified appraiser, licensed associate broker, and seasoned real estate educator.  Decades of experience in the real estate industry, she has owned and operated a real estate brokerage, taught everything from pre-licensing through designation courses, and continues to practice as both an appraiser and an associate broker. She is a certified USPAP instructor.
