Ohio Market Watch: First-time home buyer interest drops slightly
By Greg Stitz, Ohio REALTORS Director of Research
Over the past five years the response by Ohio REALTORS to the question -- “what is your observation regarding the level of interest potential buyers have been showing in purchasing their first home?” -- have shown that half or more of respondents indicated an increase in interest shown by first-time buyers. In fact, 2016 and 2017 findings realized interest levels of potential first time buyers reaching two-thirds. When the question was asked in a recent Ohio REALTORS housing market confidence survey, 11 percent fewer respondents (56 percent compared to 67 percent in 2017) indicated the interest levels of first-time homebuyers has increased.
Survey results are based on responses to a monthly survey, designed to capture the effects of the existing economic conditions and trends on the real estate industry, sent to a pool of 1,500 Ohio REALTORS participants. Click here to participate in future Ohio REALTORS Housing Confidence Surveys.
