Coaching Corner: Are you consistently inconsistent?

Real estate can indeed be a bit of a roller coaster, would you agree? We get a deal and become so excited at what has occurred...until the inspection reveals something that your buyer just is not okay with. Oh no...down we go! I still see new agents (and some experienced ones), riding this real estate roller coaster that leaves us screaming!

Finding the “magic” of generating new business has become the quest of many an agent. Saying the right words, buying the right system or hiring the right coach! Let me break this to you gently...there is no magic out there! The magic is YOU! Yep, you are the key to your success, and always will be.

One of the major keys to your success is finding a consistent method of generating new business. This is the piece that I know that you know, and, it is also the piece that gets left at the curb when business is rocking and rolling.

Let's make this simple -- first determine your who/where/what. Who is your target market? Where are you going to find them? What type of information creates memorable value that reflects your expertise? Once you have that down, create an action plan for this particular target market. All done? Great!

The next step is to plug “Finding New Business” into your schedule 4-5 times during the week. Do not freak out! What this means is that you will be working on your plan for some time each of those days. It does not mean countless hours at each sitting. The best way to get to your desired outcome is to break down the steps and do them CONSISTENTLY!!! And, you get to be the determining factor of how much time gets spent, based upon whatever else is happening at any point and time. So, you have several appointments on one day? You may only spend five minutes on your plan. That is just fine!

The key here is to get into the habit of finding new business consistently -- not intermittently. You are creating a new habit that will not only lead to greater success, but will bring more confidence into your life. Take some time initially to make sure you feel good about the direction that you are choosing, and then, go for it!!!!
