Coaching Corner: Were you there?

As I type this, it is late on Wednesday night and I am catching up after being in Columbus for the Spring Legislative Conference which ran Monday through Wednesday. Some of you reading this were in attendance and some of you were not. If you have ever considered attending this event, let me tell you...“Do It!”

There were so many highlights of this event, and I think most would agree one of the most exciting was the surprise visit of Dr. Ben Carson, secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, to the Board of Directors meeting, fully equipped with secret service protection!

For years I did not get the importance of paying attention to the legislative issues, and, quite frankly found them to be boring. Perhaps some of you feel the same. But, here's the thing -- legislation directly impacts us as REALTORS as well as our clients. It is part of our job to be informed on the relevant issues that are before the House and Senate. I now seek this information out and find it more and more interesting.

During this conference we not only heard what is happening, but also had the opportunity to meet with our representatives at the State House for a lovely reception where we talked to them about the important issues to us as REALTORS.

Watch for information on the Buzz regarding other results of this conference. It was packed full of information that is so timely for you! And don't worry, you have a year to plan for the next one!
