Coaching Corner: Do you have a completion check?

Recently I was reading a Facebook post of one of my friends who does a “completion†check within her life at the end of each year. As I read her post, I realized that although I am big on completing for the year, there were many items she had implemented that were worth re-visiting.
For example, make sure your will is up to date, as well as your insurance. Having coached many insurance agents I have become aware that one of the main items that gets missed is jewelry. This might be new jewelry, and it may also be making sure your appraisals are accurate and up to date for your jewelry that is already insured. What has changed throughout the year that might impact either your will, your insurance, or both?
Another great example is regarding your physical health -- are you up to date with physicals, any routine tests, teeth cleanings, etc.? If not, get those appointments scheduled!
Are your possessions still relevant to you and your lifestyle? Are there items that might be better to donate? Do any items require repair, cleaning or perhaps would be better in another area of your home?
Are your finances where you want them? What might need to change in terms of your investments or current budget?
Do you have anything hanging out there that needs to be resolved with communication? This might be within your business world or personal.
I realize this post leaves little of 2016 to complete all of these items, however, feel free to carry it into the beginning of the new year. Once your completions are checked off, move into your desires for 2017. What do you want to do differently with your life, both personally and professionally? One new fun New Years activity we are adding this year is to look at the entire year and plan our trips!
Whether you are completing or planning, do it FOR you, not because you think you “should!†Creating space within our lives allows more ease and freedom, and can't we always use that?
