Coaching Corner: It's that time of the year

Every year around this time, I begin working with clients on how they want to “close out” the year, looking at what they want to be done to allow a feeling of completeness as they move into the next year. I love the feeling of easefully moving into the new year knowing what we have completed for the year.

Look at your business -- what items are hanging out there? Perhaps you had wanted to get your data base in order so that you can get back into the habit of reaching out. Or maybe your home office needs to have your files cleaned out. Take a few minutes and identify what actions need to be taken.

Now look at your home. I personally have three biggies hanging out there -- all are closets and all will require a trip to Goodwill!! It might also be a purchase that needs to happen -- maybe every time you sit on your couch you grumble because the lighting is not adequate for reading. Again, take a few minutes to identify these items.

And what about your car? Is it the way you would like it to be? Are the tires ready for the winter ahead?

Last, but certainly not least, think about any completions you need to make with the people in your life. Is there anything that needs to be said that will bring you back into integrity with yourself? This may be about something from the past that has been coming to mind. Taking care of this before year-end will be setting the tone for the upcoming year. And, once more, identify if there are any verbal completions you need to make.

Don't make more of a list than you can accomplish -- keep it to the items that are truly important to you and would give you the feeling of relief when done. Have some fun with this!
