Coaching Corner: The beauty of authenticity
By "Coach" Marilou Butcher Roth
This week I was reminded of the beauty of speaking and living authentically. On Wednesday evening, my mother passed away after nearly a week of being at her bedside. My experience with people who are nearing their transition is that they become incredibly real. Several years ago I did Hospice volunteer work and was so taken with my interactions with the patients who were near the end of their lives. Their conversations were real in a way that I had not experienced before, although this was not necessarily true of family members who had not made peace with their loved one's imminent passing.
My mother's passing was an amazing experience for our family. How we interacted with her, as well as each other, was so dear. We had this same experience when our father passed. I had thoughts of how I move from that very connected space and get caught up in the day to day dealings of life.
My intention for myself and my wish for you is to live each day from this place of authentically loving and a genuine awareness of how I/you treat others; to cherish each other and each moment. To live and love fully and to let the special people in our lives feel and hear that love.
Enjoy this holiday season in a way that brings you true joy!
