We are still at the beginning of the year I believe, and, although many of you have made resolutions for this year I would imagine that some of those new goals are already going by the wayside! So, here are some quick and easy tips to get you back on track or perhaps might be something other than what is on your list:
- Do not skip breakfast! Give some thought to what would be best to fuel your body for the day ahead. Stay away from doughnuts and high calorie, non-nutritional choices.
- Take 2-5 minutes in the morning that you consider relaxing time. It might be over a cup of tea or a few extra minutes in the shower. This is time to set your pace for the day to avoid rushing.
- Drink more water! Find ways to make that even more enjoyable if its not something you regularly do. Last year we bought stainless steel tumblers from Starbucks with straws and I found my water intake increased easily.
- Get good sleep! Your body needs to recharge and you need to make sure you are preparing yourself for sleep about an hour before you plan to go to bed. Turn off the computer and don't watch overstimulating TV shows. Choose calmer, more relaxing activities prior to bed.
- Read (or listen to) books that bring you “up.†There are so many out there; something for everyone!
- Stimulate your brain! Do crosswords or other types of puzzles. Lumosity is a great way to get your brain moving and fun to do!
- Be good to yourself -- find ways to take extra good care of yourself. It might be through massage or maybe simple ways of preparing your food. You might use your good china for your delivered pizza!
- Take small breaks during your workday -- get up and move your body! Breathe deeply, stretch, walk around the building, get some fresh air!
- Go out and do something fun!
- Smile! It makes all of us happier! :)
