Coaching Corner: The leaves are changing
By "Coach" Marilou Butcher Roth
Here in Ohio, we have the privilege of observing the leaves on our trees changing color from green to vibrant reds, oranges and other amazing mixes of colors. Last week, I had a houseguest from England and after taking countless photographs of our local trees, informed me that we were well known for this beautiful transition of nature. This was news to me and I found myself feeling proud and appreciative!
We can easily take this experience for granted -- after all it does happen to some degree each year. I began to wonder what other transitions we sometimes either take for granted or possibly even resist?
There will always be changes in our lives -- births, deaths, beginnings and endings of relationships or careers. The big question is how well do you flow with changes that do and will continue to occur in your life? Are you allowing or resisting these changes?
I love to think of the analogy of a big oak tree which is deeply rooted in the ground, and yet when the wind blows, this enormous tree will sway while still remaining solid. Think of yourself in that way. You are fully grounded and secure and although change happens you can move with that change and still retain your connection.
This week bring your awareness to situations that generate change within your life and notice if you are resisting or like the firmly rooted oak tree, allowing this change.
