Coaching Corner: Are you talking too much?
By Marilou Butcher Roth
Now, having given you that bit of information, currently, I am much more in the school of thought that less is more when it comes to conversation. In listening to clients and others, I observe quite often a tremendous amount of chatter that goes on. Why? Is there a way to say what we want and/or need to say, with less words?
I have observed chatter that escalates into drama, I have observed chatter that gives information that should not be given and I have observed chatter that creates discourse with clients.
This week, I want you to think about and pay attention to your conversations -- are you saying more than you need to? Is there a way to be more succinct with your words? Could you generate more meaningful conversations by saying less? Try it and see how it goes!
Just sayin'!
