Coaching Corner: Seeing 2013 through eyes of appreciation!
By Marilou Butcher Roth
Obviously people feel there is a bit of magic that occurs when the clock strikes midnight on December 31 -- a new, fresh year has arrived, bringing the hope of more joy, more love, more abundance! Perhaps there is magic! However, I would suggest that rather than finding fault with the current year, we take some time to appreciate all of the wonderful events, people and opportunities that presented themselves in 2013.
Let's face it -- each and every year will have its combination of joys and disappointments, laughter and sadness. That's life! So, how do you want to end this year -- focused on why 2014 will be better than what 2013 brought us, or completing the year from a place of appreciation for the truly wonderful experiences of this year.
I invite you to take some time before January 1 to write down, or at the very least think about, what you appreciate about the year 2013. It will never be repeated and most will be forgotten. If you can fully open to appreciation, you will not be dragging the tin cans of yesteryear behind you. You will be more available to experience this upcoming year more expansively.
Let's get to it! Enjoy!
