Coaching Corner: Are you interested?
By Marilou Butcher Roth
I started reflecting after their departure about what made it so much fun and focused back to our ongoing conversations. When I did this what was so obvious is how keenly they took an interest in us, our city, our Reds -- everything! They asked questions from such a pure place of curiosity, nothing felt interrogatory in any way -- they were interested.
Not only did it create a desire for me to learn more about my own city but also prompted some thought about how interested I become with others, situations, life in general. We so easily get caught up in our day-to-day lives, and often forget how amazing life is when we just stop long enough to get interested.
So, for the past few days I have been noticing more, and getting interested in others, paying greater attention to the details of my surroundings and what I have found is a greater depth of appreciation for even the smallest of things. Just coming home from the market I am loving the most vibrant color oranges I have ever seen and plan to appreciate them even more at breakfast!
Now -- go forth and get interested!
