Coaching Corner: Freedom!
By Marilou Butcher Roth
In thinking about the 4th of July and what it means to us, my first thought was one of how we live freely in this country. Something, I might add, that we sometimes take for granted.
Then my thoughts took me to other types of freedom. How might we keep ourselves in places that are not free by choosing to act or think in a certain way? What about the idea of financial freedom? Do you believe that is possible for you, and if so, what steps are you taking to get there?
And, physical freedom...what does that mean to you? For some that might mean the range of motion their body can handle. For others that I know, their geographic living area in the country plays into their physical freedom, not wanting to experience cold weather that might keep them indoors.
Emotional freedom cannot be minimized here -- when we live in a place of judgment, either for ourselves or others, we limit our freedom. When we judge, we are not free. We limit our ability to love and create fully by tainting our own thoughts.
So on this holiday, think about how you want to experience freedom and identify action steps that will take you there. Then, enjoy the beauty of your personal fireworks!
