Ohio home sales dip slightly in September, prices and dollar volume up
According to the latest report from Ohio REALTORS, home sales dipped slightly in September 2024, but sales price and dollar volume remained up over last year.
Home sales in September 2024 reached 11,197, a 0.5% decrease from the 11,256 home sales recorded a year ago. The average sales price across Ohio in September reached $301,158, a 9.3% increase from the $275,433 mark posted in September 2023.
"Ohio’s housing market remains strong and steady this September,” says Ohio REALTORS President Ali Whitley. “The increase in home sales prices and dollar volume show that owning a home remains a great investment. An Ohio REALTOR serves as a professional partner, guiding buyers and sellers through the intricate process of home buying and selling to successfully achieve their housing goals.”
Around the state, 12 out of 14 markets tracked experienced an increase in average sale price for the month compared to September 2023.
Home sales activity during the first nine months is up 1% compared to January-September 2023. Year-to-date sales (January-September 2024) reached 98,636, up from the 97,630 homes sold a year ago. The average sales price during this period is $292,158, a 7.4% increase from the $272,010 mark set a year ago.
Data provided to Ohio REALTORS by Multiple Listing Services includes residential closings for new and existing single-family homes and condominiums/co-ops.
