REALTOR Lauren Gedman of Toledo is honored with the Ohio REALTORS 2024 Good Neighbor Award.
Gedman was awarded the award at the Ohio REALTORS 2024 Annual Convention & Expo in Columbus, Sept. 9-11.
Gedman, nominated by Northwest Ohio REALTORS, is associated with RE/MAX Preferred Associates.
The Good Neighbor Award, one of the organization's most prestigious honors, is presented to an individual REALTOR who has shown exemplary commitment to community service.
As a military spouse, Lauren became involved in Task Force 20, a local organization that helps veterans combat PTSD, depression, and other mental health problems with physical fitness and moving away from drugs, alcohol, and sedentary habits. Lauren Gedman has played a pivotal role in advancing the mission by organizing events that bring veterans together and raise essential funds for Task Force 20 programs.
Over the past three years, Lauren became more involved in the organization, giving her time by planning and organizing events to bring veterans together, donating directly to the organization, and helping to raise critical dollars to support veterans in need. With her involvement, the organization's annual revenue, event attendance, and the number of veterans supported doubled.
This expansion has enabled Task Force 20 to partner with VA hospitals in Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, MI, and Dayton and Columbus, OH, greatly expanding their reach and impact. This progress highlights Lauren's pivotal role in driving the organization's success and expanding its capabilities to serve the veteran community better.
In addition to her work with Task Force 20, Lauren Gedman has volunteered as the President of Softball for AWABSA, a local recreational program for children in the Anthony Wayne area, since 2020. She manages all aspects of the softball program, including team formation, equipment ordering, scheduling, and serving as the primary contact for participants. Lauren also serves on the Anthony Wayne Youth Foundation board and its finance committee, dedicating numerous hours each year, including at least 100 hours in the past year, and has coached a softball team for many years.
Lauren juggles her job as a realtor and her role as a mother, spouse, and daughter and still finds time to give back and help others in the community. She is a true testament to what a community leader is all about.
