Go Find Your Crayons!
By Marilou Butcher Roth, Master Coach
For years, creativity has been an important part of my life. Yes, of course, my writing fits that criteria, and yet there is so much more. I have found that creative expression, with my writing and also in other areas, keeps me clear and focused. Creativity can show up in countless areas of your life, perhaps cooking or gardening fills that creative void for you. Creativity can motivate you, it can help you become more productive, it may boost your confidence and generally help with your overall attitude.
You may be asking yourself what you personally might do to bring about this wonderful world of creativity! There are so many options, and what is most important is to give yourself permission to have fun with this. It’s all you!
If you have an interest in doing something artsy, you can jump in immediately. There are now adult coloring books out there that are quite fun. Did you ever find yourself doodling during a class? Well, this is actually a thing. Get yourself a sketchbook and some crayons and/or markers and go for it. There are countless easy classes for all types of art if that is your chosen direction.
If art isn’t your thing, another very simple idea is to totally switch up your routines. Drive different ways to places you always go, brush your teeth or your hair with your non-dominant hand, etc. Now it's time for you to generate your own ideas - make a list of as many items that you can think of. Have fun with the list and your action of choice!!
