Ohio REALTORS Insider: Burnett Trial Updates Week 2
Todd Book, Vice President of Legal and Legislative Affairs at Ohio REALTORS, and Stephen McCoy, Vice President of Legal Services & Regulatory Affairs discuss what happened during the second week of the Burnett vs. NAR Trial.
The Burnett case involves a class action lawsuit aimed at NAR and two large brokerages, Home Services of America and Keller Williams Realty. The Plaintiffs claim commission rates are too high, buyer brokers are being paid too much and NAR’s code of conduct and MLS rules lead to price fixing and are anti-competitive.
Last week, the defense began its case including testimony from NAR CEO Bob Goldberg amongst other witnesses. Todd Book visited the courthouse on Friday and gave his perspective on what unfolded that day.
The trial is expected to last 3 weeks with a jury decision likely by Nov. 10.
