Ohio REALTORS Leadership Team attended NAR’s Affordable Workforce Housing Symposium this week. The Symposium was centered around the implementation of the CHIPS Act and its impact on housing in Central Ohio. Chief Advocacy Officer Shannon McGahn led a roundtable with speakers from the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Additional panels featured local business and community leaders and discussed the details of economic development opportunities in the region and the challenges to delivering affordable housing for workers and their families.
Various other topics were also discussed, including strategies for making housing more financially accessible, housing inventory management to alleviate shortages, enhancing accessibility for diverse needs, and analyzing the influence of job-related factors on housing prospects, all with the goal of creating a more equitable and sustainable housing landscape in Ohio.
NAR and Ohio REALTORS both advocate for housing supply in local markets to support historic investments in CHIPS factories, specifically the new Intel facility that is currently being built in Central Ohio.
