Coaching Corner: Leadership
By Marilou Butcher Roth
What I am talking about are qualities that leaders possess, such as: integrity, dedication, openness, creativity, charisma, commitment and communication, just to name a few. Bottom line, each of these qualities mentioned, along with many others, are part of what we either currently possess or strive to possess as REALTORS.
When we are engaging with a client, it is our responsibility to do what I call “hold the space†for the interaction. If we are frazzled and overworked, that is the sense that we will bring. If we are confident and tuned into our client, we bring an entirely different energy to what we are doing.
Being a leader requires commitments on many levels. A leader will commit to taking healthy responsibility his/her own physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well being, learning not to blame others, themselves or situations.
A leader will commit to end gossip and if there is a concern, to talk directly to that person, rather than talking to others about that person.
A leader will commit to creating a win/win situation, finding ways where everyone feels good in the interaction, looking for solutions rather than focusing on and/or complaining about the problem.
A leader will commit to bringing ease and fun into their lives, knowing that each of us requires a balance to live a full and healthy life.
Are you a leader?
