The latest on the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance fund
Here's the latest news on Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) fund that is available to independent contractors because of passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act that signed into law in late March:
- The US Department of Labor provided states with final guidance and rules on implementation of the program on Sunday, April 5.
- Ohio has selected a vendor to administer the PUA program and is currently working on creating the application and building out an entirely new, separate filing system for those seeking PUA. This process could take until mid-May until fully operational and accessible.
- All eligible recipients will receive their full payments, retroactive from the date their income was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It's important for recipients to retain all records.
