An important message to Ohio real estate licensees from Superintendent Petit
By Anne M. Petit, Superintendent, Ohio Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing
I want to let you know how your Division of Real Estate & Professional Licensing (Division) is operating during these uncertain times. First, please bear with us as we work remotely in compliance with the Governor’s orders to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
As was communicated to you earlier this week by Ohio REALTORS, consumers and licensees with questions about which professional services may or may not be provided during the period of the ‘Stay Home Order’ should consult the Order and private legal counsel, as the Superintendent nor our Boards or Commissions have authority to interpret or enforce that Order. Information may be found at https://coronavirus.ohio.gov
Please note while we no longer accept walk-in visits at our office, we are responding to inquiries as quickly as possible. I strongly encourage you to email us at rather than leave a voice message. Email will allow us to efficiently disseminate your questions to our staff for response.
For any licensee trying to renew a license online or those licensees unable to complete the required continuing education because you’re experiencing technical difficulties, we understand and will be flexible. If your renewal due date is March 1, 2020, through a future date to be determined, we will work with you and are extending due dates for the foreseeable future. When we are on the other side of this pandemic, we will communicate with you to let you know when you must complete the required CE and submit your renewal. If you are ready to renew your credential on time, real estate licensees who have renewed at least once before may do so online; for all other credentials and real estate licensees doing a first renewal or a late renewal, you must submit by mail.
Finally, we are all in this together. Our team at the Division wish you and yours well. Please stay safe and help #flattenthecurve.
