Coaching Corner: Two, four, six, eight... Who do we appreciate?
By Marilou Butcher Roth
Did you know that one of the quickest ways to feel better when you are feeling low is to appreciate? It's true! Now, these appreciations need to be true for you, not something you are saying just to say it. So let's look at circumstances where we can add some good ole appreciation to our day:
- Appreciate your significant other for something that you love that they do, or how they look.
- Appreciate your clients — there are so many opportunities for this if you become aware.
- Appreciate yourself (definitely the hardest!).
- Appreciate beauty around you.
- Appreciate events of the day just before you go to bed.
These are some examples, and I promise you that putting your attention on finding things to appreciate rather than noticing things that are wrong will bring you to a place that feels easier and more loving, towards yourself and others. You will notice a difference in your home life and business life.
This takes practice — it doesn't come naturally for some so if this is new for you, create some type of reminder to keep you on track! And, as always, have fun with this!
