RESTRICTIONS: Applicants shall successfully have completed at least 1 real estate course accredited by a four year degree granting college/university in Ohio. The applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America. The Helen Hendershott Memorial Scholarship Fund is restricted to students attending The Ohio State University in accordance to the terms of her will. Applicants must be full time students.
GUIDELINES: Applicants must be pursuing a four-year degree or higher in real estate or a related field such as finance with a major in real estate at one of the seven eligible colleges/universities in Ohio. Applicant must additionally have completed at least one real estate course and be enrolled in a second with a letter of recommendation from the professor or academic officer. - The scholarship applicant must be a REALTOR in good standing of the Stark County Association of REALTORS for no less than one (1) year.
- The course must be for any National Association of REALTOR designation or certification, or taking courses for obtaining an Ohio broker's license, or completion of Ohio REALTORS Leadership Academy.
- The applicant must have been an active member on a SCAR committee for the previous 12 months from the date of the application.
- The applicant must submit, together with the application, a copy of the available information concerning the course, including any registration materials, brochure and/or outline.
- The Scholarship Committee must receive the fully completed application at least 15 DAYS PRIOR to course start date to be eligible for reimbursement.
- The applicant must submit proof of successful completion of course within 30 days prior to distribution of funds.
- The maximum amount of a distribution to the applicant is not to exceed 50 percent of the lowest or early bird price, with a $1,000 maximum per year per member.

GUIDELINES: Applicant must be seeking to obtain a Broker’s license, NAR designation, or other Association approved professional designation in the State of Ohio. Reimbursement includes any Board approved continuing education that increases a member’s professional capabilities. Online courses are acceptable. Approval is at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee and/or Board of Directors.
If the class/course is offered by LGAAR, the member should take the class/course at LGAAR to be eligible for reimbursement. If the class/course is not offered by LGAAR, the member may take the class/course with another organization and be considered for reimbursement.
Information about the course, such as a brochure, registration materials or course outline, must be submitted with this completed application.
Scholarship monies will be awarded after submission of proof of successful completion and payment of the course. Completion certificate must be accompanied by proof of payment.
Application and course information must be submitted to the Scholarship Committee three (3) weeks prior to the start of the class or three (3) weeks after completion, for approval, at the discretion of the committee and/or Board of Directors. The amount of the scholarship will depend on the availability of funds for the given year. Only one scholarship per applicant per calendar year will be awarded, up to a limit of $100, unless otherwise determined by the Board of Directors. A limit of $50 will be awarded towards any continuing educations that is not a designation.
